Hall of Champions RC1 (January #1GAM Football Roguelike)

I’ve posted RC1 of Hall of Champions.

Changes:

  • Each time you reset, the opponents are randomized (skill based on level)
  • End of quarter screen
  • Analytics (helps me by showing me how you play)
  • Bug: possession swap next game after last game finished with TD… Yeah.
  • Minor UI polish
  • Increased difficulty slightly

Hall of Champions (#1GAM January Football Roguelike) RC0!

Hey guys – huge update tonight.

Changes:

  • Music: loop 4 on offense
  • Bug: Give player control after int
  • Bug: Yards on INT Return
  • Bug: Fix positioning of down guys
  • Bug: Backspace in team name entry
  • HUD: Score
  • HUD: Field Pos indicator
  • HUD: Down, and To Go Marker
  • HUD: QTR, and plays left indicator
  • Polish: Defensive Camera Tuning
  • Bug: Blockers taking out coverage
  • Team: Players are random on generation, but progress from there

My favorite change is the last one – it essentially means the game has infinite replayability. Each time you generate a new team, that team is randomized at the appropriate level. Then, they progress from there. One team may have a stud running back, another a great quarterback, another a great defense.

Also, each time you face a team, they will have progressed consistently as well. If they went down a level, their players will reflect that. If you match against one of your old teams, don’t be surprised when they use the same weapons you liked when they were yours!

Working on Beta 2 of Hall of Champions

Here’s the list:

  • Bug: Game disappearing bug (first frame of a pass, on detach of ball)
  • Bug: Strange behavior on subsequent posessions during tournament sometimes (saw with 1 play qtrs)
  • Bug: Yards on INT Return
  • Bug: Fix positioning of down guys
  • Bug: Backspace in team name entry
  • HUD: Score
  • HUD: Field Pos indicator
  • HUD: Down, and To Go Marker
  • HUD: QTR, and plays left indicator

  • Analytics

    • Scores
    • Levels
    • SessionLength
    • Load

It’s a long list, but I should be able to get to most of it.

Beta 1 of Hall of Champions (#1GAM Football Roguelike) posted

Tuned for fun and difficulty. Settled on 5 plays per quarter for quicker games.

Brought back a little of the randomness for an any given sunday feel – your players will vary slightly from game to game.

Changes:

  • Fix looping music
  • Menu: Credits
  • Gameplay: Deep zone coverage
  • Gameplay: Tuning: Difficulty
  • Gameplay: Tuning: Tune for fun
  • Gameplay: Tuning: Game Length
  • Gameplay: Slight variance in players game to game

Hall of Champions (January #1GAM Football Roguelike) ALPHA posted

I have a bunch of exciting news.

First, the game has a name and logo!

Next, I integrated the music from Mads Aasvik, an awesome chiptune artist who knocked it out of the park!

Finally, I’ve hit the alpha milestone! All features are in and working. Really only polish left from here on out! To celebrate, I’ve posted a new build.

Done today:

    • Menu: Tournament

    • Progression: Difficulty Curve
    • Menu: Start
    • Audio: Music integrated
    • ART: Logo
    • ART: Yard numbers
    • ART: Field decorations (mid, endzone)
